Today is Father's Day and I couldn't be happier. All the girls let me sleep in this morning and then Mama made me a wonderful breakfast, not to mention she brewed my coffee for me. I could tell it was going to be a good day from the start. Beyond that, I have played with Cora and Hazel and made it a point to not get too caught up in the chores that consistently need attention. It figures that today, of all days, my full attention needed to be with the ones who call me by my newest name, 'Papa.' Thanks to Mama for the gifts and arranging a pleasant day for me. :)
On Thursday, Cora went to Chapel Hill with the rest of us in tow. It was for her Pulmonologist check-up and the result was promising. We need only return if necessary in the future and save the steroids until the first symptom of respiratory distress starts this fall or winter. If it's needed before then, of course we'll drag the nebulizer back out, but the good news was that this appointment was largely unnecessary due to Cora's return to health. Staying home from daycare really made her well.
Unfortunately, Hazel seems to have picked up a virus during two days spent at daycare last week. Mama had some help from Granny, to get her classroom cleaned up from last year, so the girls went and visited their buddies at daycare for those two days so Mama could work uninterrupted. So far the sickness has just been an ill mood, fever and slight rash and we're hoping that's where it ends. She has, after all, had this particular virus before, so we're hoping she rebounds quickly. Cora is about a day or two behind but both have spells of good spirits now and again in spite of it all.
Papa and Mama have been quite busy with home improvement lately, what with removing wallpaper and glue, and then painting the den/play area and dining room. We no longer having any unpainted wood or paneling showing anywhere, except the hardwood floors, of course. Since the den/play room had been dark since we moved in, we painted it all in bright, light colors so that it opened it up a little more and made it a nicer room to spend our time with the girls. A big thanks goes out to Granddaddy and Granny (Ninny) Dillon for watching Cora and Hazel the past two weekends so that we could accomplish so much. In addition, much appreciation also goes out to Melanie Murphy for her assistance with the wallpaper and painting. We couldn't have finished what we did, without you.
Mama had some more portraits of the girls done recently, some of which I was lucky enough to receive as part of my Father's Day gift. But besides that, all family should be on the lookout for some copies headed your way at some point. We are wanting to make a trip to Manteo but have been too tied up with painting and such so far to make it happen. By and by, we should get things back in order around the house again so that we can get to the beach and visit with family on the water.
