The unofficial ultrasound results are in! These results are from the Radiologist's report and have not been discussed with us by the doctor. They were read to us by the nurse this evening. That does not change the results, it just makes them unofficial. Cora's blood clots were described as aging. This basically means they are being reabsorbed into the body and are slowly fading away. The ventricles in her brain have decreased in size, excellent news, and there is less fluid, more great news. They will continue to do an ultrasound every week. This will allow the doctors and nurses to continue to watch the fluid build up and monitor her progress. The gist of all this information is: Cora is doing well, she is absorbing the fluid as she should, she should get better every week.
Hazel is enjoying her low flow nasal cannula. She has not pulled it out once. That cannot be said of her other tubes and probes. She had a lot of fun pulling off her temperature probe this evening. She just loves to squirm, pull of a probe, giggle, wait for you to fix it, then start the process all over again. You can see her plotting her next move. It is written all over her face and apparent in her body movements. She is tolerating the milk foritfers in her milk. She has had a few bradys. We are waiting for the results of her caffeine level to be returned. Both girls are given caffeine to stimulate her breathing. The solution will probably be as simple as increasing her caffeine everyday. It is also something she will eventually out grow.
