Cora gained some of the weight she lost yesterday. She now weighs 3 lbs. 4 oz. We only take her out of her bed twice a day and for 30 minutes at a time. We hope this will prevent her from losing any more weight. She has not had any bradys since yesterday. When she is brady free for seven days, they are going to try to take her off her caffeine. She is sucking on her pacifier. This is the step before bottle feeding. Her lead nurse thinks she will be ready to try to bottle feed next week. In the mean time we will continue nuzzling and kangaroo care. Another cranial ultrasound was preformed today. It was just a precaution to make sure her hemorrhage was still continuing to resolve. Everything looked great. The ventricles are still normal size and the clots are still described as aging (being absorbed into the body). Cora spent the majority of the day sleeping peacefully.

Hazel also gained weight. She now weighs 2 lbs. 9 oz. You can tell she is gaining weight by looking at her now. She is still having bradys but she is having then less frequently. Her caffeine dose was increased and so was the amount of milk she receives. As a reminder, the caffeine stimulates her brain to remember to breathe. We are still doing kangaroo care with her at least once a day. She will start nuzzling when she is not having as many bradys. She will also try bottle feeding next week. She is more aggressive with her pacifier than Cora. We think she may start eating from a bottle first. She loves that pacifier! Hazel was very active when she was not sleeping. She spent her awake time smiling and giggling at her parents.

  1. Well hello sweet little ones! I miss you so much! I look at your pictures everyday...ok multiple times a day! It is a nice peacful break from work. I cannot wait to see you again.

Your mamma was supposed to have another baby shower today, but it got cancelled due to winter weather. You really brought the cold when you came! :)

Anyway, that means Uncle Richard and I have a present for you! It is in the mail. I can't wait until you get to go home and I can come visit you more often!

Cora, keep gaining that weight and staying healthy. Hazel you keep getting stronger too so you can stay in charge like I know you are!

    Love you!
