The girls had a quiet day. We enjoy quiet days.
Hazel had two very brief bradys. The nurse said if she had not been looking at the monitor, she would not have seen them. The temperature in her isolette is set at 27 degrees. Before a preemie gets a crib, her isolette has to be set at 27 degrees for a minimum of 8 to 24 hours. During this time, the preemie has to maintain her regular body temperature without losing weight. Maintaining a normal body temperature burns calories, thus weight loss if it is too much work for the preemie. The other goal is to weigh 4 lbs. Hazel weighs 3 lbs. 10 oz. She is a growing girl! She was too tired today to eat from a bottle. We will try again when she is more alert.
Cora also had a very brief brady. The nurse said the same about Cora, if she had not been looking at the monitor she would have missed it. The temperature in her isolette is set at 28 degrees. She now weighs 3 lbs. 15 oz. She is one ounce and one degree away from a crib! Cora did not eat from a bottle today either. She was too tired from all her hard work yesterday.
Sleep my little girls. Grow all you can! It looks like things are beginning to go your way. Quiet days are what we need sometimes. In my case I don't have enough quiet days, but I take them gratefully when I happen to come across one. I know that mama and papa are looking forward to you coming home,as well as Grandmaw and Pawpaw and aunts & uncles, & cousins.
