It is amazing the difference one day makes. Cora lost an ounce. Her lead nurse said she probably lost weight because we have been taking her out of her isolette more and are practicing nuzzling. When she has to regulate her own temperature, it uses all her energy and burns calories. Thus, she loses weight. We did not hold her as long tonight in hopes of letting her rest and gain weight tomorrow. She is still tolerating her feedings, not having aspirates, and she had two huge poops today (one while her mama was holding her).

Hazel is catching up! The nurses said not to be surprised if her weight ends up passing Cora's. Her weight today was 2 lbs. 9 oz. She continues to gain an ounce or more a day. We are doing kangaroo care everyday and hope to start nuzzling soon. Hazel was given a caffeine bolus this afternoon in hopes of preventing any more bradys. She was averaging 10-12 bradys a day. She had five this morning. The doctors felt her caffeine was low due to her recent weight gain. Last we heard, she has not had a brady since her bolus. We try not to get excited or say this too loud. If she hears, she bradys then smiles. She likes to prove to us she is in charge.

On an unrelated and totally random note, we pass by this picture in the hospital every single day. We think it looks like Frank Lynn, so we're sure to say 'Hi' to him each day and ask how he's doing. And that concludes today's random factoid.
