The Fairy and the Mermaid

Both girls were fussy today. Everyone is recuperating from their tests.

Hazel did not eat as much from her bottles today. She is tired from having two exams this week. Tonight she would not drink anything from a bottle. Even with all of this, she is not having as many bradys. The ones she is having are worse than the ones she had prior to this week but she is still fixing them on her own. Preemies tend to grow out of bradys around 37, 38 weeks. The girls will be 38 weeks on Monday. Holding Hazel seems to be the only thing that will calm her down. Hopefully she will get lots of rest tonight and be ready to smile and giggle tomorrow. Her weight was 4 lbs. 4 oz.

Cora had a great night and morning. She is drinking all but one of her bottles. We cannot get her to drink her 6:00 bottle. Once she conquers this last feeding obstacle, her feeding tube will be removed. She loves her milk, drinking most of her bottles in five to ten minutes. This afternoon she had a pelvic tap. When the nurses would try to give Cora a catheter, she would poop and pee on them, push the catheter out, hold her urine, or pee around it. The tap inserts a needle directly into the bladder. It is safer and more sterile to collect urine this way. The difficult part is to make sure the bladder is full. It only took one time to get the amount needed. We should have the results in a couple of days. Tomorrow is another much needed rest day. Cora's weight today was 4 ls. 12 oz,
