Cora spent the day with her Papa. She ate, took a nap, played in the swing, had tummy time, took a bath and enjoyed her first time on the Boppy pillow. Last night was a rough night. Mama and Papa only got a few hours sleep. Cora kept them up all night screaming and going poo. Today has been much better. She has not had as many spits and her poo is no longer a weird green color. Tonight should be a night of rest due to all the hard work from last night and today.
Hazel had a tiring day. The tests she had this morning concluded there is nothing wrong anatomically with Hazel's GI track. She has really bad acid reflux. In the first few minutes of her swallow test, she refluxed three times. The acid normally comes to the top of the stomach or bottom of the esophagus. In Hazel,it comes all the way to the top of her throat. She is not aspirating. This is good news. In the back of the throat, there is a vein that helps control your heart rate. Hazel's is being aggravated by the reflux. This is causing her to have bradys. It has also caused her cough and congestion. The solution is to feed her every three hours instead of every four and to give her a stronger medication. If this does not work, we will know in a few days, she will have surgery to fix the muscle above her stomach. It is a quick surgery with a very small incision. The recovery time is said to be quick. If she continues to have bradys after all these precautions, she will come home on a heart monitor.
